Yummy...?

In order to understand one's culture, it is best to look one's food. Taking Thai food for example, although we have a number of original recipes, we opened and received food from different countries and cultures. It is then possible to say Thai culture has an open-minded. It is conservative and at the same time, liberal.

Brand or No Brand

As the society grows bigger and wealthier, brand-name materials become even more desirable objects. People consider the exchange value more important than the actual value of the product. That changes the way people see and live their lives, Thus it changes their culture. As this picture shows, a university student is holding a very expensive handbag. Though with no income, she is determined to acquire it. The culture is getting more and more materialistic each day and people lose their touch with themselves, nature and their actual needs.

buy and sell & eat and drink

As people from other cites move to Bangkok, they bring along their culture and lifestyle. This is a picture  of a market in one of the most populated areas in Bangkok. As you can see, people here choose shop in a stall-style market, rather than in shopping malls. Merchants often cook and sell right within their stalls. This creates a new lifestyle and also new culture.

Fishy Fish!!!

In my opinion, "culture" is disappearing and being replaced with "cultures". As the world becomes smaller and easier to connect, thanks to all the advanced technologies, different cultures emerge together. As any typical Thais would know that Japanese food is among the most popular in Thailand. It comes in various forms; from 5-star hotels to carts on the sidewalk. People love sushi. Though it is still being recognized as a Japanese recipe, I strongly believe that one day it will be a part of Thai cuisine as it already is in Thai culture.

Contrasting Worlds

This picture clearly signifies the difference between traditional Thai and modern Thai culture. With a traditional style building in the front, it shows how Thai culture used to be. With tall buildings in the back, it projects how Thai culture is and where it is heading. Our society is thriving toward modernity with the support of traditional foundation. It is sort of a rare but rather magnificent "remedy".

A Hectic Lifestyle

This picture pretty much summed up the lifestyle of many Bangkokians and it created a new culture. People need to get up early in the morning and rush to work. They work from 9 to 5 and go back home. In the picture, too many people are heading in the same direction at the same time. As a result, they stuck in the traffic. While in their cars, some do their make-ups, some have their breakfast and so on. This is the lifestyle of urbanity and this is called urban-culture.
